Key responsibilities
According to the vacancy notice, the role centres on the following duties:
- Develop and support Feedback to Policy (F2P) services to channel evidence from EU funded research projects to DG RTD's policy-making process

WE ARE
The Directorate-General for Research and Innovation (DG RTD) is responsible for designing,
developing and implementing the European Research and Innovation (R&I) policies and
programmes that, together with relevant investment agendas and regulation, aim to accelerate the
transition towards a sustainable, fair and prosperous future for people and planet; achieve the
desired scientific, technological and societal impact; are based on evidence and the involvement of
citizens and innovation ecosystem stakeholders; are implemented in an ethically robust, effective
and efficient manner; and focus on European added value.
We are the Common Knowledge and Data Management Service, which is part of the Common
Implementation Centre in DG RTD. It coordinates the governance and operational management of
data originating from our EC Corporate Grant Management systems and serves internal and
external related data needs for policy design and monitoring, transparency and regulatory purposes
through data products and services. It coordinates and operates valorisation support activities to
maximise the impact of Research and Innovation projects funded through EU Grants.
As suggested by the position that we publish, we develop and support the Feedback to Policy (F2P)
services to channel evidence from EU funded research projects and external sources to DG RTD’s
work programme and policy making process. In this setting, we serve as the principal link with
policy teams to gather, assess, and formally record business requirements at the intersection of
business and data. Building on this, we develop methods and approaches to ensure that policy

WE PROPOSE
Unit RTD.H5 - Common Knowledge and Data Management Service in Directorate-General for
Research & Innovation of the European Commission - is seeking to hire one Business Analyst
Officer for Feedback to Policy Data and AI services.
As a Business Analyst for Feedback to Policy you will develop and support the Feedback to Policy
(F2P) services to channel the evidence from EU funded research projects and external sources to
DG RTD’s programming work and policy-making process. You will act as the main liaison between
the policy-business side and the Common Implementation Centre data and AI services to elicit,
analyse and formally document business requirements at the business-data interface. You will
design approaches and methodologies – including AI-driven tools and knowledge management
processes – to ensure that policy needs are accurately captured, validated and translated into
actionable data services. Your responsibilities will include:
ANALYSIS and INTELLIGENCE
• Participate in the full data-management life-cycle: data collection, storage, FAIR-
compliance checks, quality assurance and metadata curation.
• Contribute to the enhancement of corporate tools, supporting the development of “portfolio
analysis as a service” for Feedback to Policy.
• Assist in the development and testing of AI-based analytics (e.g. large-language-model
prototypes) in line with the Commission corporate AI policy.
USER ORIENTED DEVELOPMENT of STATISTICAL PRODUCTS
• Work with cross-service groups – including Executive Agencies, Joint Undertakings – to
improve existing data services and co-design new ones that meet policy-needs.
• Gather user requirements (including for AI tools) and feed them back to the F2P
Correspondents and Joint Teams to ensure alignment with programme priorities.
KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT and SHARING
• Produce clear documentation and “how-to” guides for the F2P knowledge management
processes and the F2P intranet, facilitating uptake of best practices across the R&I family.
WE LOOK FOR
We are looking for a proactive, user-oriented and well-organised professional with experience in
analysis and advice, process and project management who can conceptualise problems, identify
and implement solutions.

Salary at this grade
Basic monthly salary at FGIV runs from €4,449 (step 1) to €5,034 (top step), giving an annual range of roughly €53,388 to €60,408 before tax and allowances. Steps increase automatically every two years; the figures here are taken from the salary grid in the EU Staff Regulations.
Eligible staff posted away from their country of nationality also receive an expatriation allowance worth 16% of basic salary (around €712 per month at step 1 of FGIV) together with household, dependent-child, and education allowances where applicable.
