Each category sits on a defined position in the EU Staff Regulations and determines the contract length, applicable salary grid, and recruitment route. Most Other vacancies are advertised through EU Careers (EPSO) and the recruiting institution's own portal. Selection typically involves CV screening, a written test, and a competency-based interview. Successful candidates move onto a reserve list and can be recruited by any participating EU institution while the list remains valid.
